O’Level Subjects and Requirements For Physics

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Physics; are stated below. Please, candidates, be informed that you are required to have at least five (5) SSC credit passes in the following subjects:

1). English Language.
2). Mathematics.
3). Chemistry.
4). Physics.
5). And one other Science subject from Biology or Agricultural Science, and Further Mathematics.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND REMARKS

1). OOU requires Mathematics, Physics, English Language and any other two (2) Science subjects.

2). UNICAL requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Physics, Biology/Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language. Candidates with an ‘O’ level pass in English Language may be allowed to remedy the deficiency during the first year of study by taking and passing the UNICAL Remedial English. It also accepts an ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics/Chemistry/ Biology.

3). UNIZIK accepts D7 in English Language.

4). UNIBEN requires ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and any other Science subject.

5). UMUDIKE and UNIKINGS – Same as in Mathematics.

6). UI requires six (6) or five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes at two (2) or one (1) sittings. The subjects are to include Physics, English Language, Mathematics and any other two (2) Science subjects.

7). UNIOSUN accepts any other subject from Science as the fifth (5th) subject. But it must be in one (1) sitting.

8). UNIPORT requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in Biology and Physics or Mathematics.

9). UNIUYO requires ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language and Chemistry.

10). UNIJOS also accepts candidates that have been able to satisfy the UTME requirements in addition to a pass in the Remedial Science Programme of the University of Jos.

11). UNN accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and two (2) other ‘O’ level credit passes from Further Mathematics, Biology, Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Statistics, Geography and Technical Drawing or its equivalent.

12). UNILAG requires the fifth (5th) subject to be an ‘O’ level  credit pass in Further Mathematics.

13). UNIABUJA accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or its equivalent in Mathematics, English Language and any three (3) other subjects preferably Physics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Geography in the order of arrangement.

14). UMYUK requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or its equivalent in Physics, English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, and any of Biology, Agricultural Science, Geography and Computer Studies in just two (2) sittings at most.

15). NDU accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in two (2) sittings at most.

16).  AJAYI the Same as Computer Science.

17). DELSU, COOU, and IMSU may accept ‘O’ level pass in English Language.

18). GOUU requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry or Biology and any other Science subject.

19). GOUU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in subjects which must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings.

20). KSU the Same as in Mathematical Sciences.

21). FUNAAB requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in Biology Science.

22). FUNAAB is the same as in Biochemistry.

23). FUTA requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Physics, English Language, Mathematics and Chemistry.

24). FUPRE requires an ‘O’ level pass in Biology.

25). FUTO requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language, and one other Science subject from Biology or Agricultural Science and Further Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings.

26). FED-LOKOJA requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Physics, Mathematics, English Language, and two (2) other Science subjects.

27). FED-DUTSINMA accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Physics, English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, and one other Science subjects of your choice.

28). NTNU accepts the following subjects: Mathematics, English Language, Physics and two (2) other Science subjects of your choice.

29). KWASU the Same as in Mathematics.

30). EVANGEL does not accept an ‘O’ level credit pass in Geography or Agricultural Science.

31). MAUTECH requires fifth (5th) ‘O’ level credit pass to come from either Biology/ Agricultural Science/ Electronics/Basic Electricity.

32).WESLEYUNI requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, and any other two (2) subjects preferably Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Geography, and Biology in the order of arrangement.

33). BOWEN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Additional  Mathematics/Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and anyone Science subjects including Geography.

34). REDEEMER’S requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, and anyone of Biology, Further  Mathematics, or Geography.

35). WESTERN-DEL requires the fifth (5th) subject to be an ‘O’ level credit pass in Biology.

36).  CRUTECH accepts any relevant Social Science or Science subject as the fifth (5th) subject.

37). SALEM accepts ‘O’ level credit passes in either Geography or Chemistry.

38). NDA requires/accept five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language, Physics, and anyone (1) of Technical Drawing, Biology, Agricultural Science, or Further Mathematics.

39). MAKURDI also accepts ‘O’ level credit passes in Statistics, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Electronics or Geography in place of Biology or Agricultural Science. It also requires an ‘O’level credit passes or its equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings.

40). FED-LAFIA requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in Further Maths.

41). MINNA requires ‘O’ level credit passes in the following subjects: Chemistry, English Language, Physics, Mathematics plus any of Agricultural Science, Biology, Geography or IT related subjects.

42). ODUDUWA accepts ‘O’ level credit pass in Agricultural Science or Health Science in lieu of Biology.

43). OSUSTECH requires Geography or Biology as the fifth (5th) subject.

44). ABUAD demand for at least five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or its equivalent in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, and two (2) other Science subjects.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND REMARKS

1). AAUA does not accept Biology as one (1) of the UTME subjects.

2). AUE, BAUCHI, CRUTECH, FUPRE, FUTO, FUNAAB, FED-LAFIA, FUAM, UNN, UNIOSUN, UNILAG, SALEM, UNIBEN require Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics.

3). DELSU and OAU accept Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics.

4). FUTA and OAU require Chemistry.

5). FUTA, ILORIN, ODUDUWA, and IGBINEDION Accept Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

6). UI requires Physics and any two (2) other Science subjects.

7). UNICAL do not accept Biology as a UTME subject.

8). NTNU accepts Physics, Mathematics, and one other Science subject.

9). NTNU and AJAYI are the Same as in Computer Science.

10). TSUJ requires Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements For Physics

Candidates who rather prefer to apply to study Physics using Direct Entry than UTME should, therefore, be able to satisfy the Direct Entry admission requirements needed to study Physic below:

  • NCE/Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Chemistry or Mathematics.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND REMARKS:

1). BSU and OAU accept ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Physics.

2). UI and BINGHAM require merit/ND credit/NCE in Mathematics and one (1) other approved Science subject.

3). UNN accepts the following:
i).  NCE Physics or HND or ND in Physics or Engineering.
ii). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics in addition to the UTME requirements.

4). BIU accepts NCE/ND upper credit only.

5). BSU, UNIUYO, and MAIDUGURI accept NCE merit with Physics major.

6). DELSU accepts NCE merit in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. It also accepts ND credit in Science Technology.

7). COOU accepts HND/ND credit in relevant programmes and an ‘O’ level pass in English Language under exceptional circumstances.

8). MAUTECH and COOU accept ND lower credit in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

9). ABSU, IMSU and UNIPORT – No Direct Entry.

10). FUTA accepts:
i). ND (upper credit) or its equivalent in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Science Technology. OR.
ii). A minimum of two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics at one (1) sitting or its equivalent.

11). ABSU and DELSU accept NCE merit in Mathematics and Physics or ND credit in Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering Science Technology and Mathematics.

12). EKSU accepts Biology in place of Mathematics.

13). OOU accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes which should include Physics and any other Science subject. ND (lower credit) in Electrical/ Electronics, Geography, Pure & Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering, Science Laboratory Technology. It also accepts Final Certificate in NIST and Data Processing lower credit.

14). UNIBEN requires the following in addition to the UTME requirements:
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics/Chemistry, HND (lower credit) /ND (upper credit) in Computer Engineering, Science Laboratory Technology, and related  programmes, NCE merit with an ‘O’ level credit pass in Physics.

15). UMUDIKE and SALEM require an ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics/Further Mathematics, and Physics.

16). UDUSOK accepts ND credit in relevant programs in addition to ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics and Physics.

17). UNILORIN accepts NCE merit/distinction in Mathematics and Physics in addition to the UTME requirements.

18). KUST and BAYERO accept NCE credit, ND/HND lower credit in addition to ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, and two (2) other Science subjects. Meanwhile, BAYERO accepts one (1) other Science subject. BSU accepts HND upper credit only.

19). FUNAAB accepts the following:
i). ND (upper credit) in Physics, Science Laboratory Technology, Electrical/Electronics or related programmes.
ii). NCE credit in Physics, Computer Science or Mathematics.
iii). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Physics, Chemistry or Biology.

20). IGBINEDION accepts Physics in addition to one (1) of Chemistry or Mathematics, ND in Electrical/Electronics and Science Technology.

21). AJAYI the Same as in Computer Science.

22). RSUST and CRUTECH require Physics and Mathematics.

23). RHEMA accepts NCE/ND in related subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.

24). TSUJ accept/requires the following:
i). It requires three (3) ‘A’ level passes which must feature Physics and any other two science courses.
ii). It Accepts HND credit/ND and NCE merit in related programs plus UTME requirements.

25). ADELEKE accepts ND (upper credit) in Electrical/Electronic and it must come from a recognized Polytechnic.

26). EVANGEL accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Zoology, Biology, Botany and Physics or Chemistry.

27). CUAB accepts ND (upper credit)/NCE and approved equivalent in relevant programmes and IJMB at acceptable grade levels.

28). BOWEN accepts ND/NCE/IJMB/’A’ Level or approved equivalent in Physics and Mathematics. It also accepts Physics and Chemistry in exceptional cases.

29). OSUSTECH accepts the following:
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry and it’s preferable in order of arrangement.
ii). ND distinction and credit in relevant programmes.

30). KUST accepts NCE credit/ND/HND (lower credit) in addition to ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other science subject.

31). NTNU the Same as in Computer Science.

32). KWASU and UNIKINGS the Same as in Mathematics.

33). MAKURDI accepts the following in addition to the UTME requirements:
i). HND – considered admission into 200 Level.
ii). NCE two (2) credits in relevant subjects for admission into 200 Level.
iii). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics for admission into 200 level.

34). BIU requires two (2) ’A’ level passes in relevant subjects or NCE 3 merits or ND credit in relevant programme. In addition to UTME requirements specified above.

35). SOUTHWESTERN accepts the following:
i). HND.
ii). IJMB/NCE/ND.
iii). It accepts NCE merit in Mathematics and Physics or ND credit in Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering Science Technology and Mathematics.

36). AAU accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes or ND credit or their equivalents in addition to the five (5)  ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings.

37). AAUA accepts ND credit in Physics or Applied Mathematics.

38). WESTERN-DEL accepts the following:
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes/NCE in Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry.
ii). ND merit in Engineering Science, Physics or Computer Science, Science Technology or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

39). GSU accepts ‘A’ level/IJAMB/NCE/HND/ND or its equivalent plus five (5) ’O’ level credit passes.

40). WESLEYUNI does not accept Chemistry in place of Mathematics.

41). MCPHERSON accepts the following:
i). HND lower credit/ND upper credit/’A’ level or its equivalent in Physics plus five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes.
ii). JUPEB/IJMB  ‘A’ level or equivalents in related subjects.

42). PLASU accepts the following:
i). Degree in any programme in addition to the UTME requirements.
ii). HND (lower credit) in relevant programs plus UTME requirements.
iii). ND (lower credit) in relevant programme plus UTME requirements.
iv). IJMB minimum of seven (7) points plus passes in relevant subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.
v). PLASU does not accept University diplomas and other diplomas not accredited by the relevant accrediting bodies.

43). FUTA accepts ND (upper credit) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Science Technology plus the UTME requirements or two (2) ‘A’ level passes at one (1) sitting in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

44). FED-DUTSINMA requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics. It also accepts NCE/ND with good grades and relevant ‘O’ level subjects.

45). UNICAL requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes or equivalents in Physics and either Mathematics or Chemistry in addition to the ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and two (2) Science subjects.

46). MOUNTAIN TOP – ND and HND credit may likely be considered for 200 and 300 levels respectively.

47). UNICAL accepts ‘A’ level passes or its equivalent in Physics and either Mathematics or Chemistry with ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Physics, Mathematics, and two (2) Science subjects.

48). NDU accepts ‘A’ level passes/ND in any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, Geography or Biology.

49). CALEB accepts ND credit in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics, Computer Science or Sciences related studies may likely be considered for admission by direct entry provided satisfy the UTME subjects at one (1) sitting.

50). AUGUSTINE requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics.

51). UNIOSUN accepts ‘A’ level pass in Geography in place of Chemistry and Mathematics. It also accepts ND (lower credit) or approved equivalents.

52). FUTO requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes which should not be below Grade ‘C’ in Mathematics and Physics. It also accepts ND/HND (upper credit) in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, and Computer Science. Candidates must also satisfy the UTME requirements. It does not accept NCE and First Degree.

53). SOSU accepts NCE merit or ND (upper credit) or HND lower credit in Mathematics, Physics Electronics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Physics Computer, Electrical Electronics or its equivalents. IJMB SCIENCE (10 Points) in addition to the UTME requirements.

54). UNILAG requires very good passes in the following three (3) A-level/JUPEB subjects in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. Candidate must also satisfy the ‘O’ level requirements which include credit in Further Mathematics.
