It is therefore very important that you have a general idea of the prerequisites that will, in turn, help seamlessly register and apply for admission into any higher institution in Nigeria without making unnecessary mistakes.

On this page, we will be listing the WAEC & JAMB Subject combination for Adult Education, a list of all the Universities in Nigeria where you can study the course. If you are a Direct Entry candidate, you will find a list of requirements necessary to apply for admission to study Adult Education.

O’Level Subjects for Adult Education

You are required to have five (5) SSC credit passes in the following O’Level subjects for Adult Education which is listed below:

1). Mathematics.

2). English Language.

3). And any three (3) subjects from French, Literature in English, History, Yoruba, Christian Religious Studies, Igbo, Hausa, Islamic Studies, Economics, Geography/Physic, and Government or TC II with a pass in English Language and any other 4 subjects.

NOTE: It is important you note that the O’Level subject combination is applicable to NECO, GCE, WAEC, and equivalent.

WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). UNILAG requires 5 ‘O’ level credits in Mathematics, English Language and any three from of CRK/IRK, Igbo/Yoruba, History/Government, French, Geography, and Economics.

2). TASUED requires 5 ‘O’ Level credit passes at 1 sitting or 6 ‘O’ Level credit passes at 2 sittings which must include subjects like English Language and other subjects from Arts, Sciences or Social Sciences. An ‘O’ Level pass in Maths is also required.

3). UNICAL requires a pass in Mathematics and a credit pass in English Language.

4). ESUT doesn’t insist on Mathematics.

5). UNN requires as follows:

i). Candidates are required to possess five (5) credit passes at the GCE O’ level or SSCE in English Language as well as a Science subject plus any three (3) other relevant subjects for entry into any four-year degree program.

ii). Candidates are required to satisfy University basic admission requirements plus entry requirements of the particular department into which they are seeking combination for any of the six (6) specialized areas of the combination in the Arts and Social Sciences.

7). UNIPORT requires 5 O’ level credit pass in English Language, a teaching subject and any three (3) other subjects.

8). AAUA requires 5 ‘O’ Level credit passes in the following subjects; Mathematics, English Language and three (3) other relevant subjects.

9). UI – requires 5 credits at one sitting and it must include English Language.

JAMB Subjects for Adult Education

First of all, you are required to score not less than 180 (JAMB Cut-off Mark for Adult Education) if you intend to study Adult Education in any of the Nigerian Universities listed below.

We honestly urge you to even aim for 200 and above to stand a better chance of being admitted based on merit. Below, you will find the three (3) compulsory JAMB subject combination for Adult Education:

1). Government/History.

2). Anyone (1) Social Science subjects.

3). And any other subject.

WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). UNICAL same as in Education Arts or Social Sciences.

2). UNIBEN Accepts/requires:

i). Adult Education English and Literature requires Literature in English, one Art subject plus any other subject.
ii). Adult Education Political Science and Public Administration they accept History or Government, one Social Science Subject plus any other subject.
iii). Adult Education Professional accepts any three subjects chosen from social sciences or Arts.
iv). Adult Education Geography and Regional Planning, they accept Geography, one Social Science subject in addition to any other subject.
v). For Adult Education Economics and Statistics requires Economics, Mathematics and one other Art or Social Science subject.

3). UNILAG requires any three (3) of Literature in English, Government/History, Geography, French, Math, Yoruba/Igbo, Economics, Commerce, and CRK/IRS.

4).  TASUED accepts any three (3) subjects.

5). UNN accepts:

i. Candidate combining Adult Education with English is required to include Literature, English Language in their UME subjects in addition to any other arts Subjects. For other combinations, the school requires English Language in addition to any other Arts or Science subjects related to the candidate’s choice of combination.

ii. For the three professional Adult Education options, UNN requires English Language and any other three (3) subjects in arts and Science for candidates seeking entry into the four-year degree program.

6). MAIDUGURI requires any three (3) subjects.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

Below are the various Direct Entry admission requirements for Direct Entry candidates who want to study Adult Education in any of the Universities listed below without UTME.

A). Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes.

B). NCE merit in two (2) subjects.

WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). UNIBEN requires ‘A’ level subjects in relevant Social Science and Arts subjects in addition to 3 O’Level passes in English Language at one sitting.

2). UNN accepts:

i). Candidates with ND (Distinction, credit or merit levels) in other disciplines that are not related to Adult Education. They must also possess UNN minimum Entry requirements in addition to a credit in any related Arts or Science subject for Direct Entry for a four-year program.

ii). Candidates with Advanced level passes in GCE or principal level in HSC in at least 2 subjects which will also include that to be combined with Adult Education.

3). UNIPORT – Don’t accept Direct Entry.

4). UNIBEN accept:

i). Upper Credit in ND in any of the areas listed in (ii) in addition to three (3) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language and others at one sitting.
ii). 2/3 NCE merit passes in addition to 3/2 O/Level credit passes in English Language and others at one sitting.

5). UNIMAID accepts HND/ND at credit level.

6). UNILAG requires;

i). Candidates to meet the O/Level requirements.
ii). They also require 2 ‘A’ Level passes from History, English, Geography, French, Mathematics, CRS/IRS, Government, Yoruba/Igbo, and Economics.
iii). UNILAG accepts very good passes in three (3) JUPEB subjects from among French, Lit-in English, Government, Economics, CRS/IRS, History, Geography, Igbo, Yoruba and Mathematics.
iv). NCE: History, English, French, Mathematics, Geography, CRS/IRS, Igbo/Yoruba, Government, and Economics.

7). NDU – Same as Vocational and Technical Education.

8). TASUED requires;

i). At least NCE Merit/ Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or a Diploma in Adult Education and another relevant teaching subject which must be from a recognized institution with upper credit.
ii). HND/OND with upper credit.

9). UI – don’t accept TC II after 1981. They require a credit in Maths for all Science based combinations as well as Economics. Meanwhile, a pass in Mathematics is needed for social Sciences.
